Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: Johannes-Passion
Label: Capriccio
Released: January 1, 2004

This live recording holds the first performance of C.P.E. Bach's Johannes-Passion since 1772. The score has been housed in the archive of the Berlin Sing-Akademie since its discovery in the Ukraine. C.P.E.’s version of the Christ story is a dynamic one, with plenty of drama and much interaction between the various soloists and the chorus -- a chorus that both represents the Jews and performs chorales.

With the Zelter-Ensemble, Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, and Barockorchester Capriccio Basel, conducted by Joshard Daus.
Recorded in the Kammermusiksaal, Philharmonie, Berlin, on September 9th, 2003.
