Classical review, the Grant Park Symphony with conductor James Paul
"James Paul could hardly have wished for more auspicious weather with which to begin his tenure as principal guest conductor of the Grant Park Orchestra than the clear, breezy and temperate conditions that greeted his concert Wednesday night at the Petrillo Music Shell.

"Of course, even if the lakefront had been cold and wet, it probably would not have made much difference. The American conductor already has forged a genial but vigorous relationship with this ensemble, musically as well as personally. You sense the players are making music with him not because they have to but because they really want to."
