Tilman Lichdi has established himself as one of the most distinguished interpreters of Bach’s oratorios and of the Lied repertoire. He has made his mark especially as Evangelist and upon his American debut with the Chicago Symphony performing St. John Passion in 2010, a Chicago reviewer wrote: “One can go a lifetime without hearing the Evangelist sung as well as by Tilman Lichdi, and I’m not forgetting Peter Schreier.” Lichdi has given concerts across Europe, the US and South America and performed under such conductors as Kent Nagano, Christoph Perick, Bernard Labadie, Ton Koopman, Martin Haselböck, Christoph Poppen, Claus Peter Flor and Michail Pletnev, to name a few. During his 2013-14 American season he makes his debut with the San Francisco Symphony performing Bach’s Mass in B-minor. His European engagements include performances with Maggio Musicale Firenze, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic, and Wiener Musikverein.
