b i o g r a p h y...........back to roster....up A favorite with audiences in all parts of the world, Christiane Edinger made her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic at age 19, playing the Mendelssohn Concerto. This performance resulted from her appearance at the Berlin Festival as the youngest soloist in decades, where she performed works by contemporary composer Boris Blacher. Recent engagements include an appearance in Berlin with the C.P.E.Bach-Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Hartmut Haenchen in an all-Mozart program, a performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Kiel Philharmonic, conducted by Ulrich Windfuhr, several performances in Germany with the Prenzlau Prussian Chamber Orchestra and conductor Matthias Husmann, recitals at the Hamburg Academy of the Arts, the Rosengart-Museum in Lucerne and a solo-recital of contemporary music in Luebeck’s Petri Church. Additional performances with orchestra include concerts of the Halffter No.2 concerto in Neuss and Dortmund, conducted by Pedro Halffter, as well as the Schumann concerto in Halberstadt, Germany. She also performed the Khatchaturian concerto in Mexico City under conductor Velazquez. In December 2003 she played with the Mozarteum Orchestra at the Salzburg Festspielhaus three different concertos on subsequent days: by K.A. Hartmann, B.A. Zimmermann and the third concerto by Saint-Saens. This led to an invitation to perform the Beethoven concerto with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn in April 2007. At the same time, Ms.Edinger is reaping critical acclaim as the first violinist of the fairly new Edinger-Quartet. Recent prestigious presenters included the Muenchen Gasteig’s Black Box Series, with a recording by the Bayerische Rundfunk, as well as concerts in Potsdam and Berlin, the latter representing the music of composer Friedrich Metzler. Among Ms. Edinger’s recording highlights are Penderecki’s First Violin Concerto, with the composer conducting, as well as the complete Solo-Sonatas and Partitas by Bach and all the Mozart violin concertos. Her career has brought her together with leading conductors, notably Sir Neville Marriner in Frankfurt for the Beethoven Concerto, Christoph Eschenbach in Houston and Zurich playing the Schumann Concerto, Skrowaczewski with the Milwaukee Symphony (Szymanowsky’s Concerto No.1), Penderecki and his first Concerto with the National Symphony in Washington, at New York’s Carnegie Hall and throughout Europe, and Mozart with Kurt Masur at Leipzig’s Gewandhaus. Her list of appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic is equally impressive. She was their soloist with the concertos by Beethoven, Elgar, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. but also played contemporary works by Zimmermann, Blacher, and Badinski. Cristobal Halffter wrote two concertos for Christiane Edinger and conducted the recording of the first one with her in Frankfurt. Ms. Edinger has been featured in many festivals including London’s Kenwood Festival with the English Sinfonia in works by Blake, conducted by the composer, the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico under Penderecki, Carmel’s Bach Festival, and the festivals of Venice, Vienna, Warsaw, Prague and Berlin. Ms.Edinger is the recipient of the Berliner Kunstpreis and the German Critics Award. Born in Berlin, Ms. Edinger began her violin studies at the age of five and continued at the Berlin Hochschule fuer Music with Vittorio Brero, in Switzerland with Nathan Milstein and at the Juilliard School with Joseph Fuchs. b i o....c o n c e r t o - r e p e r t o i r e back to roster...up . . . . |
