b i o g r a p h y...........back to roster....up May 2008 Applauded for his “robust and charismatic performances” (San Francisco Chronicle), Jeremy Galyon continues to impress audiences and critics alike. An Adler Fellow since 2006, he made his San Francisco Opera debut as Count Horn in A Masked Ball. Other recent company appearances included Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), the Magistrate (The Barber of Seville), and the Sergeant of the archers in Manon Lescaut. Season 2008/09 marks another milestone in Galyon’s career, his debut with the Metropolitan Opera as Alessio in Bellini’s La sonnambula. During 2007/08, his many appearances at the San Francisco Opera encompass Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride (Le Ministre), the premiere of Glass' Appomattox (as Lincoln), Doctor in Macbeth, Rheimar in Tannhäuser, and Sarastro in Magic Flute. Other highlights include his debut with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, a Handel Messiah with the American Bach Soloists, two productions at the Houston Grand Opera (Magic Flute as 2nd Armored Man and Priest, as well as Billy Budd / Lt. Radcliffe) and his debut at the Opera Theater of St. Louis as Crespel in Les Contes d’Hoffman round out the season. Recent engagements include performances with the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, UC Davis Symphony Orchestra and the new-music chamber ensemble Earplay. The Merola Opera Program alumnus has also sung Fauré's Requiem and Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall. Galyon spent four years as a resident artist with Binghamton's Tri-Cities Opera, where he performed an array of roles including Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), Sparafucile ( Rigoletto), Colline (La Bohème), and Dulcamara (The Elixir of Love) . The bass is also a former young artist with Glimmerglass Opera, where he performed the roles of Larkens (The Girl of the Golden West) and Masetto (Don Giovanni). Other credits include Theseus ( A Midsummer Night's Dream) with Chicago Opera Theatre and the Second Armored Man in The Magic Flute with Florida Grand Opera. A native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Galyon was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a finalist in the DiPanni Bel Canto Competition. He holds an Opera Index Encouragement Award. |
