November 2010

Hailed as "a clarion voiced Siegfried", critically acclaimed American tenor Daniel Snyder is currently a scholarship recipient of the prestigious Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program of Washington DC.

Known for his handsome stage presence and for his adept musicianship, Mr. Snyder has performed in world renowned venues throughout the USA, South America, Germany and most recently Africa, in April of this year. His repertoire encompasses the romantic leading roles of both Italian and German repertoire, including Siegfied, Max, Florestan, Des Grieux, and Radames to name a few. He is equally at home with oratorio and is recognized in particular for his interpretation of the Verdi Requiem, which he has performed with leading orchestras throughout America.

During the current season he takes part in Rappahannock County as Caucasian Tenor with the Virginia Opera.

Engagements in the 2009/10 season included Don Jose for the National Philharmonic and Connecticut Grand Opera, Verdi Requiem in Texas and Connecticut, the world premiere of the new oratorio by Aaron Garber and gala concerts in Baltimore and Tennessee.

2008/09 featured Der Freischütz with Opera Boston, the Verdi Requiem with the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, and a return to Fledermaus in Pittsburgh with the Opera Theater.

During the critically successful  2007/08 season Mr. Snyder assumed the demanding role of Hoffmann in a new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Virginia Opera, followed by the Italian Tenor in Die Fledermaus at Opera Theater of Pittsburgh and concerts of Neapolitan Songs with Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra and Murfreesboro Symphony. He then performed Carmina Burana with the Toledo Symphony, followed by the Verdi Requiem with the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Richmond Symphony, the Master Chorale of North Carolina, the North Penn Symphony Orchestra and in a debut at Carnegie Hall with Saint Cecilia. He finished the season singing the role of Radames in Aida in debuts in Chicago with Enrique de Patron Rueda conducting, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brita in the Dominican Republic under the baton of José Antonio Molina.

As a recitalist, Mr. Snyder has been a regular performer in The Embassy Series in Washington D.C.  He has sung at the Czech embassy, the Hungarian embassy and the Austrian embassy.  In 2006, he helped ring in the New Year at the Seattle Symphony with performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.  Other concert credits include Handel’s Messiah with the Kennedy Center Orchestra, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with the National Philharmonic, Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Winterpark Bach Festival, Mozart’s Requiem with the Washington Bach Consort, and a rare performance of Frank Martin’s In Terra Pax with the National Cathedral Choral Society, as well as many recitals of art song across the country.

Other notable past engagements include Pinkerton, Siegfried, Tristan, and Don Jose, and recordings include  Kurt Weill’s ‘Eternal Road’ with Gerard Schwarz conducting the Berliner Rundfunk Orchestra for the Naxos label.  His appearance in Xalapa Mexico as Tamino during their summer music festival excited critical acclaim and enthusiasm.
