Donald Westwood serves as Artistic Director for both the Jacksonville Lyric Opera and Belleayre Festival Opera (Belleayre Music Festival), where he celebrates ten seasons as Artistic Director in 2008.  Upcoming directing assignments include THE MERRY WIDOW and LA BOHEME for Jacksonville and PAGLIACCI for Belleayre.   
Mr. Westwood’s most recent directing credits include Belleayre productions of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE and the children’s opera THREE LITTLE PIGS (World Premiere).  In June 2007, he directed the musical INTO THE WOODS for the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre.  

Other recent productions include TOSCA for Belleayre, OPERA UNDER THE STARS and DIE FLEDERMAUS in Las Vegas, and the operetta spectacular VIENNA TO BROADWAY, featuring a company of 150 singers, dancers and musicians, including stars of the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera and dancers from Broadway and Radio City.

Donald Westwood has produced, directed, managed and marketed more than 200 productions in the fields of opera, operetta, classics of American musical theatre, and programs for young audiences and senior citizens.  These include national tours, regional productions, residency programs and premieres, plus four national tours for Columbia Artists Management, Inc. (CAMI).

Mr. Westwood’s productions have been called “a welcome addition to this city’s music” by NEW YORK Magazine;  “unusually successful” by THE NEW YORK TIMES;  “very special” by THE NEW YORK POST;  and “a dynamic alternative to the giants at Lincoln Center” by OPERA NEWS Magazine.

From 1994 through 2002, Mr. Westwood was a music critic for OPERA NEWS Magazine, reviewing performances at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, among numerous other venues.

Donald Westwood is a cum laude graduate of Pace University in New York City, attending the University on full academic scholarship.  He has been Pace University’s Alumnus of the Year and recipient of the University’s Fine Arts Award.
